Support the Education Department’s strategic plan and educational theme, Designing a Better World, by carrying out summer programming at two Trust locations and their surrounding communities: Frank Lloyd Wright Home & Studio in Oak Park and Frederick C. Robie House in Chicago. Assist with the development of programs through curriculum writing and the creation of supporting materials. Successfully implement on and off-site education programs and activities including but not limited to school and library workshops, summer studios, youth and family programming, and Trust events. Split between Oak Park and Hyde Park, with travel to schools, libraries, Trust sites, and other locations required. A minimum commitment of 20 hours per week from July to September is required. Weekend and evening hours may be required to meet the needs of education programs and the organization.
- Assist with preparing and delivering youth and family programs offered at the Home & Studio and Robie, in Chicago, and in the surrounding communities to expand the Trust’s educational outreach.
- Assist with the development and planning of programs within the theme, Designing a Better World.
- Collaborate on ideas and conduct research to further develop programs that meet the mission and goals of the Trust while serving audience needs and multiple learning styles.
- Implementation and evaluation of assigned workshops and programs to include:
- Responsible for preparing and providing instruction for assigned programs/workshops.
- Traveling to other sites around Chicago and the surrounding area to provide programs and expand the Trust’s educational outreach.
- Collect and record data to be used in evaluation and documentation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree and experience in K-12 education or youth museum education required. Masters preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications. Background or strong interest in art, architecture, and design. Ability to work a flexible and variable schedule including some evenings and weekends to meet the needs of the Trust. Vehicle required for off-site activities. Must be able to lift minimum of 25 pounds.
Administrative offices are located in a downtown historic building. Oak Park and Hyde Park Trust sites are located in multi-level work areas not accessible to the mobility impaired. Position requires frequent and regular computer and phone use as well as travel to off-site locations. Workplace is a smoke- and drug-free environment. Equal opportunity employer
