Work Summary:  Under the supervision of the Manager for Education, the National Endowment for the Humanities Educator will assist program staff in developing and implementing K-12 tours and workshops. The primary focus for this position is to facilitate in-person youth tours, offsite workshops, and virtual programs. Additional responsibilities include providing support in recruiting school partners, following up on the completion of participant surveys, assisting with marketing efforts, contributing to program data tracking, administering the Education Department’s social media accounts, and assisting in the planning and execution of additional Education programs such as summer camps and teacher professional development.


  • Minimum one year experience working or volunteering with K-12 audiences in formal or informal educational settings.
  • Minimum two years of college-level courses in Education, Museum Studies, Fine Arts, History, or related field required; Bachelor’s degree desired.
  • Strong verbal communication and writing skills with the ability to adjust communication styles to accommodate audiences of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat a plus.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license preferred.
  • Must be adaptable and able to work in a dynamic environment as part of a team, and available to work flexible hours, including weekends.


Administrative offices are located in a downtown historic building. Oak Park and Hyde Park Trust sites are located in multi-level work areas not accessible to the mobility impaired.  Position requires frequent and regular computer and phone use as well as travel to off-site locations. Workplace is a smoke- and drug-free environment. Equal opportunity employer.
