Support the Education Department’s strategic plan and educational theme, Designing a Better World, through the coordination of programs in Chicago and surrounding communities. Assist with the development of programs through curriculum writing and the creation of supporting materials for programs and the website Coordinate and lead workshops, camps, and tour. Manage the Education social medial accounts and learning kits. Based in Oak Park, with travel to schools, libraries, Trust sites, and other locations required. Weekend and evening hours required on occasion to meet the needs of education programs and the organization.


  1. Coordinate and instruct youth and family programs offered in Chicago and surrounding communities to expand the Trust’s educational outreach.
  2. Assist with the development and planning of programs within the theme, Designing a Better World.
    • Draft curriculum for studio based programs and events to be held at Trust sites and other locations.
    • Collaborate on ideas and conduct research to further develop programs that meet the mission and goals of the Trust while serving audience needs and multiple learning styles.
    • Create teacher resources for the website
  3. Implementation and evaluation of assigned workshops and programs to include:
    • Responsible for preparing and providing instruction for assigned programs/workshops.
    • Scheduling and other administrative duties for assigned programs/workshops.
    • Traveling to other sites around Chicago and the surrounding area.
    • Coordinating and organizing Learning Kits.
    • Assist with recruiting, training, and coordinating volunteers and interns to support programs and events.
    • Collect and record data to be used in evaluation and documentation.
  4. Manage the Education social media accounts with regularly postings and by building online connections and relationships with teachers, schools, and other organizations.
  5. Perform other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree and experience in K-12 education or youth museum education required. Masters preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications. Background or strong interest in art, architecture, and design. Ability to work a flexible and variable schedule including some evenings and weekends to meet the needs of the Trust. Vehicle required for off-site activities. Must be able to lift minimum of 25 pounds.


Administrative offices are located in a downtown historic building. Oak Park and Hyde Park Trust sites are located in multi-level work areas not accessible to the mobility impaired. Position requires frequent and regular computer and phone use as well as travel to off-site locations. Workplace is a smoke- and drug-free environment. Equal opportunity employer
