Exclusively Wright DinnersSM
Saturday, May 19, 6:30 to 10:30 pm
Join the owners of Wright’s Arthur B. Heurtley House (1905) and William Winslow House (1893) for an exquisite dining experience. Acclaimed chef Andrew Zimmerman will prepare a gourmet meal in the stunning Heurtley House. The spacious Winslow House debuts this year as the setting for the Trust’s signature dinner prepared by star chef Melissa Elsmo.
The Heurtley House is a masterpiece by a confident and successful architect entering his prime. The residence has been restored to Wright’s vision with authentic reproductions of Wright’s furnishings. Dinner will be served on a contemporary birch dining room set designed in Wright’s style.
Since taking the culinary lead at Sepia, a Michelin starred restaurant since 2011, Chef Andrew Zimmerman has garnered national acclaim for his inventive American cuisine. He describes his cooking style as all about balance of textures, global flavors and seasonality. Zimmerman has been honored by the James Beard Foundation and named Chef of the Year several times by the Jean Banchet Awards. StarChefs.com picked Zimmerman as a 2011 Rising Star Chef. Sepia won as Restaurant of the Year in 2012.
In Wright’s first major commission as an independent architect, William Winslow allowed Wright free rein in developing what the more conservative neighbors considered to be a shockingly modern design. A wide bay framed by wood columns with carved capitals distinguishes the elegant dining room.
In Chicago’s underground supper scene, foodies wait months to enjoy 14-course dining experiences masterminded by chef, food writer and photographer Melissa Elsmo. She appears often at pop-up events around the city. Mel’s passion for a good meal ensures you will fully and enthusiastically enjoy your dining experience.
Don’t miss this exciting day of architecture, design and Frank Lloyd Wright.
