To start your Wright Plus tour, check in with your e-ticket and pick up a program with tour map at the Wright Plus Orientation Center located at the Frank Lloyd Home and Studio complex (backyard), 931 Chicago Ave, Oak Park, IL. The Orientation Center is open 8 am – 1 pm.



Only FLWT members get to tour the Thomas H. Gale House (Frank Lloyd Wright, 1892), a bonus house offered at the 2017 housewalk in celebration of Wright 150, the 150th anniversary of Wright’s birth.

Early Check-In/Program Pick-up: Only FLWT members may pick up their program guide and wristband on Friday, May 19, from 9 am – 3 pm at 931 Chicago Ave, Oak Park, IL (adjacent to the Home and Studio) or The Rookery, 209 S. LaSalle St, Chicago. Avoid the registration line on Saturday, May 20 and start the housewalk at the featured house of your choice.

Shop Savings: FLWT Members enjoy 15% off purchases on Saturday, May 20, at the housewalk.

Allow all day for the tour. The buildings are open 9 am – 5 pm on Saturday, May 20. Tour sites are located in an easily walkable loop.

Tour sites may be viewed in any order you choose. You may need to wait in line to view some buildings. Your Wright Plus program (provided at check-in) will have a tour map for the walk. Trolley service will be available all day (7:30 am until approximately 6 pm) between downtown Oak Park train stations, parking garages and the Home and Studio complex 931-951 Chicago Ave (Orientation Center). Due to the proximity of tour homes, there will be no trolley service to individual homes.

Naturalists from Trailside Museum and University of Illinois Extension Master Gardeners will discuss designing home gardens that attract birds and pollinators. These knowledgeable experts will answer your questions about local birds, and creating bird, bee and butterfly-friendly gardens. Many Wright-inspired bird and garden accessories will be available for purchase all day at the Home and Studio courtyard.

Oak Park is ten miles west of the downtown Chicago Loop and is accessible by car and public transit. Driving directions from downtown Chicago: Take I-290 West. Exit at Harlem Avenue (Rte.43). Turn right (north) for parking garages (see adjacent map).



Street parking is limited, highly regulated and strictly enforced. No parking is allowed on streets near tour buildings. Convenient all-day parking is available in the public garages shown on the adjacent map. Please note Wright Plus trolley stops near the garages for your convenience.

Public Transportation from downtown Chicago (Metra)
Board train at Ogilvie Transportation Center (Clinton & Madison). Take westbound train (Union Pacific West Line) towards Harlem. Exit at Oak Park stop. Walk north on Marion Street to Lake Street. Turn right on Lake to Forest Avenue. Continue north on Forest to Chicago Avenue. The Home and Studio (Wright Plus 150 Orientation Center) is on the corner of Forest and Chicago. 10- to 15-minute walk. Route information and train schedule at metrarail.com or 312.836.7000. (A Wright Plus 150 trolley stop will be located at South Boulevard and Marion Street. Public Transportation from downtown Chicago (CTA)
Take westbound Green Line to the Oak Park Avenue stop. Walk under tracks and go north on Oak Park Avenue to Chicago Avenue. Turn left (west) and walk three blocks to the Home and Studio (Wright Plus Orientation Center). 10- to 15-minute walk. Trains run approximately every 10 minutes. Wright Plus 150 tickets include basic tour admission to the Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio, Frederick C. Robie House and The Rookery Light Court during regular hours through December 31, 2017. Confirm in advance by calling the ticket sales line: 312.994.4000 x9.

Touring Robie House during Wright Plus 150 weekend
Robie House is in Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood, 20 miles southeast of Oak Park; touring on Saturday, May 20 is not advised. The Robie House will be open:

Friday May 19, 10:30 am - 3 pm for regular tours
Sunday May 21, 9 am Private Spaces Tour, 10:30 am - 3 pm for regular tours
Monday May 22, 10:30 am - 3 pm for regular tours

Touring The Rookery Light Court during Wright Plus 150 weekend
The Rookery
will be open on Friday May 19 for hourly tours from 10 am - 2 pm. May 19 guided tours include the Burnham Library (subject to cancellation), where architects met to discuss the preliminary building plans for the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition. The Rookery is not open for tours on Saturday, May 20 and Sunday, May 21 during Wright Plus 150 weekend.


How to get to Hyde Park
The Robie House is accessible by public transportation or car. It is located at 5757 S. Woodlawn Avenue, on the campus of the University of Chicago. On-street parking is limited. Please allow additional time to find parking.

Driving Directions from downtown Chicago
Take Lake Shore Drive (US 41) south to the 53rd Street exit. Proceed on 53rd Street to Woodlawn Avenue and turn left. The Robie House is located at the corner of Woodlawn Avenue and 58th Street.

Public Transportation from downtown Chicago (CTA)
Take #6 Jackson Park Express bus from the northwest corner of State and Lake Streets, or any of the following intersections with State Street: Washington, Monroe, Jackson, Van Buren, Wabash, Congress, Harrison. Exit the bus at Stony Island Avenue and 57th Street. Walk six blocks west on 57th Street to Woodlawn Avenue. Turn south (left) on Woodlawn and walk one block to the Robie House. Alternatives are the #2 Hyde Park Express (weekday morning and evening rush hours only) and #X28 Stony Island Express.

Public Transportation from downtown Chicago (Metra)
Take the University Park Line from Millennium Station. Exit train at 55th-56th-57th Street stop. Walk 5 blocks west to Woodlawn Avenue and turn left (south).

Tickets are not refundable or exchangeable. The tour will not be cancelled due to inclement weather.


  • Exterior photography only. Photography designations will be clearly marked at each tour site.
  • Children under 12 years not admitted.
  • Due to the historic nature of the private homes on the walk, the tour is not physically accessible. If you have questions or would like to request accommodations please e-mail or call Christena Gunther at cgunther@flwright.org or 312.994.4005.
  • High heels are not permitted in the tour homes.
  • BAG CHECK: To protect the homes, all large bags/items must be checked. A secure bag check is available at the Home and Studio complex and at each tour site. A standard size bag will be used at each location to size bags and parcels. Any bag larger than 13"w x 13"h x 5"d must be checked.
  • Participation entitles the Trust to unrestricted use of photographs taken during the event without subject consent.
