Wright Outside: Nature meets Design
In addition to being a world-famous architect, Frank Lloyd Wright was also involved with the landscape design at each of his buildings. Wright’s concept of organic architecture integrated design with the natural world. His buildings were site specific and used the surrounding environment to enhance the beauty of the buildings themselves.
This year’s summer camp, Wright Outside: Nature meets Design focuses on landscape architecture, and how Wright built in harmony with nature. Campers will explore how the natural environment and intentional landscaping shaped Wright’s groundbreaking designs throughout his career. Students will also learn about the history of landscape architecture in the Oak Park and Chicago area, get their hands dirty planting flowers and greenery, and design a model set in a beautiful landscape of their own creation.
